Development has begun on a new passenger terminal between the two runways, to be known as the Midfield Terminal. It is due for completion in 2017, and when operational it will increase the airport’s capacity to 20 million passengers annually.
Information desks and info points are located throughout all the terminals. Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority also operates desks in Arrivals areas.
A free shuttle service operates at 15 minute intervals between the terminals, from outside Terminals 1 and 2. Terminal 3 is adjacent to and a short walk from Terminal 1.
Three main roads: 2nd Street (Sheikh Rashid Al Maktoum Street), 8th Street (Salam Street) and 30th Street (Khaleej Al Arabi Street) lead out of central Abu Dhabi city, merging with the main E22, E20 and E10 highways, all of which lead directly to the airport, which is clearly signposted all the way.
Public Transport
Bus:The 24-hour, air-conditioned A1 bus (tel: +971 2 656 6566; www.dot.abudhabi.ae) operates from all three terminals to various stops in the city centre, including the City Air Terminal, with departures every 40 minutes. Journey time is around 45 minutes, depending on traffic, and the single fare is AED4. However, Etihad premium passengers can take advantage of complimentary coach transport into Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Dubai.
Taxi:Metered taxis operate from immediately outside all terminals. The fare into Abu Dhabi city starts at about AED90, and journey time varies between 35-50 minutes according to the time of day.
Terminal facilities
There are numerous ATMs, bureaux d change and full-service banks located in all three terminals.
Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the terminals. There are also free internet stations and card-operated pay-phones are widely available. Phone cards are available for purchase at many of the airport’s shops, including WH Smith and Relay. Post offices are also available.
There is a wide selection of full-service restaurants, fast food outlets and cafés offering the full range of international and Arabic cuisine both airside and landside in all three terminals.
AUH’s retail offerings rival those of Dubai; the airport has a large range of shops showcasing international brands as well as a comprehensive selection of duty free goods. There is also a large landside shopping centre attached to Terminal 1.
Free luggage trolleys are widely available, along with fixed rate (AED15) porterage. Left luggage lockers are available, along with long-term storage facilities.
There are a number of prayer rooms, a 24-hour medical centre in Terminal 1 (transport assistance from the terminals is available), plus pharmacies, a spa and a travel agency (in Terminal 1). Smoking lounges, children’s play areas and shower facilities are also available. Free public shower facilities are available.
Airport facilities
There are VIP and business lounges in all terminals. Some are available only to premium passengers, but others can be accessed by anyone paying a fee.
Meeting rooms with capacity for up to 75 are available in the Premier Inn hotel (tel: +971 2 818 6666; global.premierinn.com), which is directly linked to Terminals 1 and 3 via the Skypark retail complex.
Additionally, ADNEC, which incorporates the Abu Dhabi International Convention Centre (tel: +971 2 444 6900; www.adnec.ae), is about 15-20 minutes by road from the airport on the route in to Abu Dhabi city.
Abu Dhabi International Airport is fully accessible for persons with reduced mobility. There is designated parking, and the terminals are equipped with all necessary facilities, including lifts, disabled toilets etc. Those requiring assistance should in the first case, contact their airline in advance to ensure that necessary provisions are in place.
Short and long-term parking is available in air-conditioned covered parking garages within walking distance of the terminals. Further parking information (tel: +971 2 505 2528) is available on the airport website. Valet parking is also available (tel: +971 55 945 1573).
Car hire desks are located in Skypark Plaza, opposite Terminals 1 and 3. Companies represented at Abu Dhabi International Airport include Budget, Dollar, Europcar, Hertz, Thrifty and Payless.
Hotels
There are two hotels located on-site at Abu Dhabi International Airport, along with 'sleeping pod' facilities in Terminal 3. Outside the airport perimeter, there are numerous options, mainly of the upmarket variety, as would be expected of such a prestigious destination. However, prices are not prohibitive in comparison with other parts of the world.

Al Ain International Airport is the only international airport serving the United Arab Emirates’ city of Al Ain, which is a short distance to the southeast. There are plans to further expand all aspects of the airport's facilities including doubling the size of both the departure lounge and check in area.
From central Al Ain, take Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Street westbound and turn onto the northbound Hazzaa Bin Sultan Street. Continue to the third main roundabout and then head west on Al Lttihad Street, which connects to the terminal access road.
Public Transport
Bus: Ojra (tel: (05) 800 5555; www.ojra.ae) bus number 960 links central Al Ain to the airport. The journey time into the city is about 30 minutes, and the one-way fare is AED1.
Taxi: Al Ghazal Taxis operates a fixed-rate service to the centre of Al Ain.
Terminal facilities
Shops at Al Ain International Airport include a duty-free complex selling a range of goods, including gifts, perfume and confectionary.
Airport facilities
There are no business or conference facilities at Al Ain International Airport; the nearest facilities can be found in city centre hotels, such as the Al Ain Rotana (tel: (03) 754 5111).
Long and short-term parking options are available immediately outside the terminal building.
There are no car hire companies at Al Ain International Airport. International car hire operators are located in Al Ain city centre but it is possible to pre-book a car to be delivered to the airport.

Among the busiest airports in the world, Dubai International Airport is a key hub for flights to and from the Middle East. A new concourse, Concourse D, is scheduled to open mid-2015, along with a new train station.
Airport information desks are located at various points within the terminals. The DTCM Tourist Kiosk (Department of Tourism and Commerce) (tel: +971 4 201 0598; www.dubaitourism.ae) in the Terminal 1 arrivals hall provides tourist information, maps and tours – there is also a tourist information stand in Terminal 3.
Transfers between terminals take 15 to 25 minutes using the airport shuttle service. It’s also possible to use the Metro to travel between Terminal 1 and Terminal 3.
Terminal 1 (which serves most non-Emirates international flights) is connected to its departures area (Concourse C) via travelators. Terminal 2 is used primarily for charter flights, low-cost carriers, and some routes within the Gulf region, while Terminal 3 (and its Concourses A and B) is solely for Emirates and Qantas flights.
The Dubai-Al Ain Road runs directly southeast from Dubai city centre on the east side of The Creek (Al-Khor). This airport directly passes the airport and the turn off junction is clearly signposted. The driving time from the city centre to the airport is around 10 minutes.
Public Transport
Metro:The Metro link (tel: +971 800 9090; www.rta.ae) runs frequently between the airport and Dubai city centre (although no service runs on Friday mornings). Stations are located in Terminals 1 and 3. The journey time to the city is between 10 and 20 minutes, depending on the destination.
Bus:A bus service (tel: +971 800 9090; www.rta.ae) runs to the city centre from stations opposite Terminals 1 and 2. Buses C1, 11, 15, 33 and 44 depart from Terminal 1 (fare: AED2), while bus 2 operates from Terminal 2 (fare: AED2). It is also worth nothing that no change can be used on public buses; instead travellers will need to buy an electronic Nol card at the metro station or from the vending machines outside the terminal. In addition, Dubai International Airport Buses provide air-conditioned transport into the city centre and more than 80 hotels.
Taxi:Prepaid taxis can be booked 24 hours a day in the Terminal 1 Arrivals hall. The journey to the city takes 10 to 15 minutes.
Terminal facilities
Banking services, ATMs and bureaux de change are available from a number of banks in each terminal and within the concourses. Dubai Duty Free (www.dubaidutyfree.com) also offers foreign currency exchange, banking and internet facilities.
Wi-Fi internet access (free for the first 30 minutes) is available to passengers in all terminals and at the gates. Touch-screen internet kiosks, which take credit card payments, are located in Concourse C. There is a 24-hour post office near gate 18 on Concourse C.
There is a large range of cafés, bars and restaurants at Dubai International Airport, with the largest concentrations in Concourses A, B and C. The food court in Concourse C is home to a range of fast-food outlets; Concourse A has a good range of restaurants and bars – including a champagne bar; while Concourse B houses a seafood restaurant among its many options. The public areas of Terminals 1 and 3 host a good range of eateries, while Terminal 2 has a small selection of cafés, restaurants and fast-food outlets.
A comprehensive duty-free shopping experience is available at Dubai International Airport, which includes a wide-ranging selection of duty-free shops at Concourses A, B and C and a smaller choice in Terminals 1 and 3. Shops here range from newsagents to outlets selling designer clothes and watches.
A dedicated lost and found service is available for personal items misplaced in the terminal area (tel: +971 4224 5555). Short-term baggage storage is available in all terminals, and there is also a luggage delivery service.
Other facilities at Dubai International Airport include prayer rooms, showering facilities and fully equipped medical centres in all terminals and concourses. Those with some time before their flight can browse the museum on Concourse A, take a tranquil stroll through the airport’s Zen Gardens (located near gate B7), or relax in the spas in Concourses B and C.
Additionally, the on-site Dubai International Hotel offers access to their swimming pool, Jacuzzi and gym for a fee.
Airport facilities
The Dubai International Hotel (tel: +971 4 224 4000; www.dubaiintlhotels.com) has five meeting rooms accommodating six to 18 delegates, and a conference room for up to 60 delegates. Its facilities are spread over Terminals 1 and 3.
There is a dedicated business lounge in Concourse C with work areas and shower facilities, and Emirates lounges in the Terminal 3 departure concourses. Several first- and business-class lounges and VIP lounges are available throughout the airport: access to the luxury Marhaba lounges (tel: +971 4 224 5780) in Terminals 1 and 3 should be arranged at least 24-hours in advance.
The Al Majlis VIP Service (tel: +971 4 504 5196) is available in Terminal 3 and encompasses various lounges, limousine transfers to the aircraft and assistance with check-in, immigration and baggage.
There are helpdesks for passengers with disabilities (tel: +971 4 224 5555) in the main Terminal 1 departures hall. Electric carts are available to transport passengers to/from the concourses, where disabled passengers can access special lounges. Passengers should request assistance (prior to travelling) from their airline, which will in turn notify the airport of any particular needs.
Short- and long-term parking facilities are available 24 hours a day at Dubai International Airport. Short-term parking is located close to the terminals, while long-term areas are connected via a shuttle bus, which takes around five minutes to reach the terminals. An online booking facility is available via the airport’s website.
There are numerous car hire companies available in the arrivals areas of all terminals, including: Avis, Budget, Dollar, Europcar, Hertz, National, Thrifty and Sixt, as well as a number of locally based operators.
